Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, or software engineering with a strong automation focus.
- Deep hands-on experience building and maintaining substantial Playwright E2E suites.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Experience integrating and operating test suites in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
- Proven track record of diagnosing and fixing flaky tests at scale.
- Ability to define and drive a prioritized testing plan independently.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
- Nice to have: API-layer test automation (REST, contract testing).
- Nice to have: Familiarity with Ruby on Rails applications.
- Nice to have: Experience with test data management, environment provisioning, or Docker-based infrastructure.
- Nice to have: Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot).
Responsibilities
- Own the E2E test suite by designing, building, and maintaining automated tests in Playwright (TypeScript).
- Audit existing coverage to identify and prioritize high-risk gaps for backfilling.
- Manage suite reliability by diagnosing root causes of flaky tests, establishing quarantine policies, and managing test data.
- Partner with DevOps on CI/CD pipeline integration, execution frequency, and deployment gating.
- Establish testing patterns, utilities, and documentation to enable and coach the broader engineering team.
- Report on quality metrics, including test coverage, suite reliability, and defect escape rate, to engineering leadership.
