Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power System Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience leading project design in power stations and substations.
- Direct experience in HV/MV substation design.
- Direct experience with natural-gas reciprocating-engine power plants, CHP, or distributed generation preferred.
- Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NFPA 70/NEC, NESC, NETA, and OSHA standards.
- PE certification or equivalent preferred.
- Familiarity with local authority permitting processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
Responsibilities
- Establish electrical design basis, scope boundaries, interface matrices, and technical risk registers.
- Review electrical design packages including single-line/three-line diagrams, layouts, and grounding designs.
- Create or evaluate technical specifications for major equipment like transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with natural-gas engine-generator OEMs and plant auxiliary systems.
- Review electrical studies including load-flow, short-circuit, and protection-coordination.
- Manage utility interconnection requirements, revenue metering, and relay settings.
- Provide construction engineering support, respond to RFIs, and participate in site walkdowns.
- Plan and support substation energization, synchronization, and system commissioning.
