Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience in fraud, trust & safety, risk, abuse prevention, or adjacent domains.
- Experience building fraud detection or risk decisioning systems such as rule engines, scoring systems, policy frameworks, or investigation platforms.
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals including designing scalable, event-driven systems.
- Experience reasoning about distributed architecture tradeoffs.
- Experience debugging production issues across multiple layers of the stack.
- Ability to partner with end-users and cross-functional stakeholders to discover problems and validate solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to turn ambiguous needs into shippable work.
- Good judgment and prioritization skills for breaking down vague problems into concrete plans.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement fraud detection and risk decisioning systems, rule engines, scoring pipelines, and event-driven risk signals.
- Create investigation and review tooling that helps our Trust & Safety operations team triage, investigate, and resolve cases efficiently.
- Work closely with manager, product, and operations stakeholders to identify exposures, propose solutions, and help prioritize the roadmap.
- Develop a deep understanding of fraud vectors in the fundraising and payments space, including stolen cards, synthetic identities, and campaign abuse.
- Harden transaction lifecycles against abuse across payment systems.
- Mentor team members on Trust & Safety domain expertise and provide code reviews.
