Requirements
- Strong background in recommendation and personalization science (building ranking, search, matching, or propensity systems).
- Proven experience with applied model ownership: building, validating, monitoring, and iterating on models in a production environment.
- Experience working with version-controlled codebases and collaborating on production implementation.
- Professional experience with Go and TypeScript.
- Experience with distributed systems and communication protocols like HTTP/gRPC.
- Strong technical communication skills to explain modeling choices and tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work effectively in an ambiguous environment to define project roadmaps.
- Comfortable beginning with simple, explainable approaches to learn and iterate.
- Bonus: Experience with content or education recommendation systems.
- Bonus: Experience with SaaS product telemetry and warehouse-scale behavioral data.
Responsibilities
- Evolve the Interactive Learning Plugin's recommendation system by developing personalized approaches to ranking and sequencing.
- Build and operate real-time recommendation models in a production environment.
- Develop, validate, monitor, and iterate on models used by the recommendation system.
- Define recommendation quality and develop offline, online, and longitudinal performance measures.
- Own feature pipelines and the monitoring of model architecture.
- Ship incremental improvements to the existing recommender service.
- Partner with software engineers and data analysts to productionize models and ensure safe integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous needs into testable hypotheses and measurable product decisions.
