  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential in good standing (required).
  • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in cancer registry operations.
  • Experience in both facility-based and central registry settings.
  • Deep familiarity with cancer case abstraction, staging, and coding conventions.
  • Experience with data validation and QA workflows.
  • Proficiency with NAACCR-style data items.
  • Familiarity with common registry abstraction and validation tools.
  • Knowledge of reporting workflows to state or national programs.
  • Understanding of AJCC, TNM, ICD-O, and SSDI coding frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining complex registry processes to interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on cancer registry data standards, abstraction workflows, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide structured walkthroughs of the registry lifecycle, covering casefinding, abstraction, coding, QA, submission, and feedback.
  • Advise on the interpretation of data dictionaries, staging schemas, and coding logic used across U.S. registries.
  • Assist the team in understanding registrar workflows, including interaction with EHRs, pathology feeds, and reporting systems.
  • Review data models, variable mappings, and potential automation use cases for consistency with registry standards.
  • Participate in periodic remote review meetings to guide technical and product teams on oncology data conventions.
  • Provide feedback on UI/UX mockups, training materials, and registry-related data capture prototypes.
