Requirements
- Proven experience building and running microservices and distributed systems in production.
- Extensive experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, or Oracle).
- Experience managing the delivery of complex projects and leading feature development from 0-1.
- Proficiency in using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) for boilerplate and research.
- Proven track record of building and managing complex API integrations.
- Strong technical or mathematical foundation, typically evidenced by a degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
- Track record of mentoring engineers of varying levels as a peer.
- Strong understanding of cross-service communication, transactional correctness, and failure modes at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of projects involving many stakeholders and systems.
- Develop deep expertise in the Finance Technology domain and serve as a trusted technical advisor.
- Perform detailed technical scoping and prototyping for feasibility testing.
- Architect and implement scalable solutions for payment microservices, direct debits, and reporting technology.
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear, actionable technical plans.
- Contribute high-quality code and support the team through code reviews, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Mentor engineers by pairing on hard problems and raising the technical bar.
