Requirements
- 10+ years of design experience.
- At least three years leading a team inside a studio, agency, or founder-led company.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual, typographic, and narrative taste.
- Core expertise in typography and editorial design.
- Extensive experience presenting and defending work to blue-chip clients across various industries.
- Proven track record of pitching, scoping, and closing new business.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, and develop design talent.
- Experience building and running a studio critique practice.
- Hands-on proficiency in Figma.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality case studies.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an exceedingly high bar for all creative output, ensuring no work falls below an 8/10 quality level.
- Build and facilitate a rigorous critique practice at XXIX, providing specific, honest, and actionable feedback.
- Recruit, hire, and mentor exceptional designers, setting them up for career growth.
- Manage client relationships for high-profile projects, presenting and defending creative work to blue-chip companies.
- Drive new business development for the design vertical, including pitching, scoping, and closing engagements.
- Oversee the production of high-quality case studies for all client engagements.
- Maintain and improve studio websites and design collateral.
- Represent the studio at events, conferences, and industry gatherings.
