Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 14 years of broad-based senior management experience in nonprofit, government, or private sector focused on climate policy and carbon markets.
  • Deep technical expertise in climate change science, policy, GHG accounting, and national/international carbon markets.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of carbon accounting, quantification, and MRV principles.
  • Experience working collaboratively with boards and advisory committees.
  • Proven experience leading organizations through periods of growth and transition.
  • Extensive personnel management experience with ability to mentor and lead in a remote work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex geopolitical and multi-stakeholder landscapes.
  • Proficiency in the full MS Office suite.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Must be available to travel for short-term assignments.
  • Commitment to Winrock’s mission and interest in market-based approaches to reducing GHG emissions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the President & CEO to refine organizational vision, goals, and strategic business plans.
  • Lead the development of policy and technical positions to ensure high-integrity carbon markets.
  • Monitor policy developments and technological advancements to drive program growth and innovation.
  • Cultivate and sustain productive relationships with the ERT Board, Winrock Board, and senior management.
  • Engage with government officials, policymakers, and diverse stakeholders to shape rules and advance markets.
  • Represent the organization in policy and technical forums, serving as an effective spokesperson for climate policy.
  • Oversee operational management, including personnel, financial stability, and organizational transitions.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Communications on outreach materials, events, and media presence.
  • Contribute to the creation of reports for regulatory bodies such as CARB, Ecology, ICAO, and ICVCM.
