Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong professional software engineering experience, ideally involving CAD systems, geometry processing, data extraction, file formats, or code generation.
- Proficiency with systems programming languages such as Rust or C++, including experience working with external SDKs and APIs.
- Experience developing translation pipelines, automation tools, testing frameworks, and debugging complex technical systems.
- Ability to work independently, investigate unfamiliar technologies, and deliver practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong understanding of CAD concepts such as assemblies, sketches, constraints, dimensions, features, B-rep geometry, and related data structures.
- Experience with CAD interoperability SDKs, native CAD APIs, and industry-standard exchange formats (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, ACIS, JT, glTF, STL, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable import pipelines that convert proprietary and native CAD formats into structured programmatic representations.
- Build systems capable of extracting complex CAD information, including geometry, feature trees, parameters, assemblies, constraints, metadata, and design intent.
- Develop integrations with native CAD APIs and SDKs to enhance interoperability where standard conversion tools are insufficient.
- Translate extracted engineering data into clean, reliable code while preserving model accuracy and structure.
- Create validation frameworks, automated testing tools, and quality metrics to evaluate geometry, topology, assemblies, and generated outputs.
- Troubleshoot challenging interoperability issues involving multiple CAD formats, software versions, incomplete metadata, and vendor-specific behaviors.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to continuously improve CAD import capabilities and support real-world customer use cases.
