Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering.
- 12+ years of experience (or 8+ with a relevant advanced degree) in utility-scale energy projects or large industrial facilities.
- Deep expertise in industrial process/thermal systems or power systems (MV/HV electrical, grid interconnection).
- Experience with energy storage projects, including site layout and equipment configuration.
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, ASME, API, and UL.
- Ability to produce and review PFDs, one-line diagrams, and site layout drawings.
- Strong techno-economic intuition and commercial judgment.
- Exceptional customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
- AI-fluent, with experience using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including international travel.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for customer opportunities across industrial heat, combined heat & power, and power applications.
- Run technical discovery, including owning customer data requests and conducting site walkdowns.
- Size and configure thermal battery products while optimizing performance, cost, and site constraints.
- Produce conceptual site layouts, heat integration designs, and site boundary-condition definitions.
- Own product-side electrical configuration and manage product-to-interconnection interfaces.
- Produce proposal-stage configuration analysis and cost estimates to support letters of intent and term sheets.
- Support commercial negotiations by preparing technical exhibits and performance guarantees.
- Prepare basis-of-design handoff packages for project engineering teams.
- Scale the applications engineering function by building automation tools and mentoring team members.
