Requirements
- Extensive experience building architecture-heavy frontend products such as canvas-based tools or collaborative editors.
- Expertise in measuring, debugging, and improving runtime performance in large-scale applications.
- Strong TypeScript experience working within large, evolving codebases.
- Proven experience owning, leading migrations, or re-architecting complex frontend systems.
- Strong systems thinking mindset focusing on trade-offs, maintainability, and scalability.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and mentorship.
- Pragmatic approach to refactoring, tech debt reduction, and modularization.
- Experience with real-time collaboration patterns (e.g., CRDTs, multiplayer systems) is a plus.
- Experience with Vue is highly preferred.
- Background in open-source software, developer tools, or infrastructure-adjacent SaaS is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve frontend platform foundations that power n8n’s workflow-building experience.
- Strengthen platform contracts including plugin systems, extension points, and developer experience.
- Modularize a large frontend codebase to support scalable product development.
- Architect real-time collaboration capabilities using WebSockets, CRDTs, or multiplayer synchronization.
- Optimize rendering performance, runtime behavior, and responsiveness across complex interfaces.
- Contribute to web worker orchestration and frontend infrastructure.
- Drive technical decisions via RFCs and collaborative engineering discussions.
- Partner with product, QA, DX, Security, and Architecture teams.
