Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in substation design, physical engineering, and/or QA/QC activities.
  • Extensive experience with utility substation standards and high-voltage environments.
  • Proven expertise in designing substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • In-depth understanding of utility and industry engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for engineering calculations.
  • Leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and supporting engineering professionals.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review physical substation designs including general arrangements, equipment layouts, and grounding systems.
  • Perform electrical physical design activities for substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
  • Conduct independent QA/QC reviews of physical design deliverables and protection/control documentation.
  • Interpret and integrate vendor information into engineering packages adhering to industry standards.
  • Manage assigned tasks, coordinate project activities, and ensure schedule and budget compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback to less experienced team members.
