Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in substation design, physical engineering, and/or QA/QC activities.
- Extensive experience with utility substation standards and high-voltage environments.
- Proven expertise in designing substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
- In-depth understanding of utility and industry engineering standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for engineering calculations.
- Leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and supporting engineering professionals.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review physical substation designs including general arrangements, equipment layouts, and grounding systems.
- Perform electrical physical design activities for substations ranging from 4kV to 500kV.
- Conduct independent QA/QC reviews of physical design deliverables and protection/control documentation.
- Interpret and integrate vendor information into engineering packages adhering to industry standards.
- Manage assigned tasks, coordinate project activities, and ensure schedule and budget compliance.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback to less experienced team members.
