Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university (BSEE strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation applications.
  • Proficiency in primary (outdoor) substation design and related calculations.
  • Strong knowledge of HV/MV equipment, including reactors, transformers, breakers, and disconnect switches.
  • Familiarity with North American standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC).
  • Ability to develop design packages without clear customer specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; BIM and Revit knowledge are strongly desired.
  • Experience with field-testing and commissioning.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of substations and balance of plant for large HV projects.
  • Develop and manage engineering schedules, design reviews, design optimization, and quality control.
  • Prepare concept and detail designs for single-line drawings, physical layouts, and equipment erection drawings.
  • Produce technical specifications and data sheets for major high-voltage equipment.
  • Manage project bills of material and design ledgers.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for technical issues with customers and project managers.
  • Support proposals and tenders for HVDC and substation projects, including estimating man-hours.
  • Respond to site RFIs and conduct field inspections for compliance verification.
