Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
- 10–12+ years of relevant legal experience, including claims management, dispute resolution, litigation, compliance, risk management, insurance matters, or commercial litigation.
- Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, business-focused recommendations.
- Experience managing relationships with outside counsel, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of litigation processes, compliance requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and legal operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority matters independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting corporate governance, compliance programs, or enterprise risk management initiatives is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage legal claims, disputes, mediation, arbitration, litigation matters, and related risk management activities.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to efficiently resolve legal issues and protect organizational interests.
- Provide leadership with clear analysis, updates, and recommendations regarding claims, litigation, compliance obligations, and emerging legal risks.
- Collaborate with operational teams to identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks through practical solutions.
- Translate complex legal concepts into understandable guidance that supports business decisions and operational objectives.
- Support insurance-related activities, including renewals, claims coordination, policy matters, and communication with insurers.
- Develop and deliver training and guidance on legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk-related topics.
- Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and industry trends to identify potential impacts and recommend appropriate actions.
- Support compliance initiatives, corporate governance activities, and broader risk management programs.
- Build strong relationships across teams while contributing to the growth and development of legal capabilities within the organization.
