Requirements
- 4+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, preferably within Agile and remote environments.
- 5–10 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong knowledge of software development practices, architecture, and delivery processes.
- Experience with full-stack web development technologies such as Ruby on Rails, React, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), and relational databases.
- Proven ability to deliver complex software products while maintaining strong standards for code quality, security, scalability, and system reliability.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Experience managing distributed teams, including nearshore, offshore, or vendor-supported engineering resources.
- Leadership approach centered on coaching, servant leadership, trust-building, and empowering engineers to succeed.
- Experience working in healthcare, health-tech, or other regulated industries (e.g., finance, insurance) is preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology environments (EMR/EHR integrations, clinical workflows) is a plus.
- Exposure to data engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, or infrastructure technologies is beneficial.
- Ability to work within the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) with reliable internet connectivity.
- Willingness to complete applicable background checks, screenings, or credential verification requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a remote software engineering team by fostering accountability, collaboration, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
- Own engineering delivery outcomes, ensuring teams consistently meet commitments while maintaining software quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Drive Agile development practices, including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, reviews, backlog refinement, and predictable delivery processes.
- Partner with Product and cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish acceptance criteria, prioritize initiatives, and align engineering efforts with organizational goals.
- Monitor engineering performance metrics, identify delivery risks, remove blockers, and proactively manage dependencies to maintain execution efficiency.
- Participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews while promoting engineering best practices, security standards, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with data, clinical, and operational teams to support integrations, workflows, data pipelines, and technology improvements.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and outsourced engineering partners, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and successful delivery.
- Support technical decision-making by balancing feature development, system improvements, technical debt reduction, and long-term platform health.
- Build a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, inclusivity, and high-performing distributed teamwork.
