Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a backend focus (Java, Go).
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience with a proven ability to mentor and inspire teams.
- Deep understanding of compliance obligations in regulated financial markets.
- Experience designing and operating high-availability, low-latency mission-critical systems.
- Background in regulated financial infrastructure, brokerage systems, or derivatives exchanges.
- Demonstrated experience using or evangelising AI-assisted development tools.
- Proficiency in Agile and Scrum methodologies in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience leading distributed or remote teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 5-8 engineers in building a regulated trading platform from scratch.
- Oversee the development of scalable, reliable systems including modernising Java codebases and new development in Go and Kotlin.
- Champion AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to maximise delivery velocity.
- Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure regulatory alignment and strategic objectives.
- Establish processes for a 24/7 regulated trading environment, including incident response and change management.
- Mentor and support the professional growth of team members to build future engineering leaders.
- Utilise data-driven metrics to monitor delivery velocity, system uptime, and compliance posture.
