- Experience
- One year of relevant experience is preferred (1,200 hours).
Requirements
- Associate’s degree is required.
- One year of relevant experience in behavioral health or human services preferred.
- Ability to become certified as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician Crisis Service Provider (MHRT/CSP) within 30 days.
- Ability to attend an in-person orientation in South Portland, Maine.
- Solid oral communication skills and ability to communicate clearly in a customer-friendly manner.
- Proficiency in documentation software and resource applications.
- Ability to use telephone, instant messaging, and chat technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a dedicated, quiet, and ergonomically set up workspace.
- Must have reliable high-speed internet access.
- Ability to pass criminal background, child protective service, and sex offender checks.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls and text/chat messages on the crisis line.
- Build rapport with help seekers by showing empathy and creating a safe, non-judgmental space.
- Complete risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of callers.
- Develop crisis stabilization plans utilizing clinical support.
- Collaborate with community partners and service providers to ensure continuity of care.
