Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- 3+ years of experience with data-intensive or mission-critical systems.
- Proficiency in a systems programming language (Rust, C++, or similar).
- Proficiency with version control (git).
- Competency with CI/CD pipelines for automated tests and deployment.
- Experience building or maintaining network-facing software.
- Understanding of computer networking (L2–L4), transport protocols, and congestion control.
- Experience designing systems for constrained, high-latency, or intermittent links.
- Familiarity with security principles for networked systems (authentication, authorization, encryption).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Motivation to learn across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain network-facing software layers for Node-to-shore communication.
- Design egress telemetry pipelines for efficient bandwidth utilization.
- Collaborate on APIs and schemas for command, control, and telemetry exchanges.
- Partner with network engineers to prioritize bandwidth across competing data streams.
- Implement graceful degradation strategies for connectivity loss or link degradation.
- Work with security engineers to harden network-facing services.
- Analyze system performance and optimize for latency, throughput, and resource efficiency.
- Extend and improve unit testing frameworks, integration tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strengthen code review, documentation, and software engineering practices.
