Requirements
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master's) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models into high-scale customer experiences.
- Deep expertise in Deep Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Reinforcement Learning.
- Proven track record of building robust propensity models, customer segmentation frameworks, and anomaly/bot detection algorithms on large-scale behavioral data.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and SQL.
- Strong architectural understanding of ML interactions with backend data pipelines (e.g., streaming features, Databricks, Snowflake) and frontend delivery systems.
- Very strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex statistical and algorithmic concepts into business value for non-technical leadership.
- Relevant work experience in an Agile environment and in the e-commerce or marketing domain.
Responsibilities
- Lead the research and evolution of recommendation systems into Generative AI, moving beyond static retrieval to agentic and contextual paradigms.
- Develop an algorithmic intent layer to translate real-time browsing signals into actionable customer goals.
- Architect ML pathways to integrate recommendation actions as tools for AI assistants in conversational shopping.
- Build and maintain propensity models and customer segmentation frameworks aligned with strategic goals.
- Create hybrid ML models for bot detection using historical web tracking data to protect personalization integrity.
- Partner with another Principal Data Scientist to co-lead research agendas and mentor team members.
- Evangelize AI strategy across product, engineering, and business leadership to promote model-driven decision-making.
