Requirements
- Qualified lawyer (Solicitor/Barrister of England & Wales, Irish Solicitor/Barrister, or equivalent admitted in an EU Member State).
- 10+ years’ PQE in financial services law within a regulated institution or law firm.
- Direct experience in product counseling.
- Experience advising on regulated MiFID investment services.
- Familiarity with crypto-asset regimes, including MiCA, AMLD5, UK financial promotions, or e-money regulations.
- Demonstrated experience leading licensing or registration efforts, including planning and regulator engagement.
- Outstanding analytical, drafting, and organizational skills.
- Strong plain-English communication skills.
- Pragmatic, commercially accountable approach to legal and regulatory risk.
- Familiarity with crypto-asset features and competitive products.
Responsibilities
- Own cross-functional product counseling across the discovery, design, launch, and iteration phases.
- Deliver crisp, actionable guidance and risk-based options to product, engineering, compliance, and leadership teams.
- Translate complex regulatory frameworks, including MiFID, EMIR, and derivatives, into pragmatic controls and go-to-market guardrails.
- Draft and negotiate client terms and conditions with clear, business-aligned positions.
- Lead licensing and registration workstreams, including scoping requirements, mapping pathways, coordinating outside counsel, and managing regulator interactions.
- Support incident and supervisory responses with reasoned written submissions.
