Requirements
- 5+ years of mortgage operations experience across underwriting, closing, post-closing, funding, or investor suspense functions
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, income calculation, and mortgage documentation review
- Experience resolving complex loan file issues through independent research and structured decision-making
- Ability to evaluate investor conditions and determine compliance or required remediation steps
- Strong critical thinking, risk awareness, and attention to detail in high-volume environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional collaboration ability
- Comfort working across multiple systems and tools such as Excel, Word, and mortgage processing platforms
- Preferred: direct investor suspense or underwriting experience and exposure to loan delivery or post-closing escalations
- Preferred: experience with workflow tools (e.g., Airtable or similar systems) in dynamic environments
Responsibilities
- Own a pipeline of complex investor suspense and escalated post-closing files, ensuring resolution of non-routine issues and time-sensitive cases
- Analyze mortgage documentation, re-evaluate income calculations, and interpret underwriting findings to resolve purchase blockers
- Validate investor conditions by identifying missing, incomplete, or already satisfied requirements and determining next steps
- Partner with loan delivery, underwriting, credit policy, and operations teams to resolve data, documentation, and process gaps
- Navigate internal systems and loan platforms to research issues, document findings, and track file progression
- Exercise independent judgment while balancing risk, speed, accuracy, and customer impact in decision-making
- Identify recurring trends and contribute to process improvements that enhance consistency and operational efficiency
- Act as a subject matter resource for complex mortgage scenarios and support team knowledge development
