Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in technical writing, scientific communication, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical or analytical content into clear executive-level messaging.
  • Working knowledge of building technologies, measurement & verification (M&V) processes, and data analysis concepts.
  • Strong editorial, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with strong attention to clarity and precision.
  • Experience developing communications for both internal leadership and external/public audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Translate dense DOE National Laboratory M&V reports into concise, decision-ready findings summaries and executive briefs.
  • Review technical drafts and collaborate with laboratory teams to improve clarity, resolve gaps, and ensure accuracy of messaging.
  • Develop communication materials such as press releases, articles, newsletters, and award or conference submissions.
  • Create webinar content and briefing decks that effectively communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct interviews with deployment and technical teams to develop case studies and narrative-driven content.
  • Draft recurring leadership updates and executive communications with a consistent, polished voice.
  • Distill complex technical findings into clear recommendations that answer key strategic and operational questions.
