Requirements
- Degree in Business Administration, Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research, or equivalent, plus 15 years of experience (or 25 years total without degree).
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with FISMA, NIST-800-53, HIPAA, and the HITECH Act.
- Proven experience achieving an ATO for projects within the VA or other federal agencies.
- Experience supporting Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes.
- Proficiency with ticketing systems, specifically ServiceNow.
- Security+ or other applicable security certification (CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GSEC preferred).
- Analytical and investigation skills with experience applying security engineering concepts.
- Experience with the VA Risk and Governance Tool.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and provide consultative support on system security certification, accreditation, and Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Coordinate security and privacy activities within project teams and develop associated artifacts.
- Review and identify system/application security controls in accordance with NIST SP-800 53 Rev 4 and VA Handbook 6500.
- Identify and mitigate security risks to the program.
- Support ATO and VA ISO/ISSO, including utilizing the ServiceNow CAM tool.
- Participate in IT modernization, expansion, and security architecture/engineering projects.
- Perform system scans, audit preparation, and maintenance of SOPs and PIA/PTA documentation.
