Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in clinical documentation and/or coding.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Active MD (Doctor of Medicine) or RN (Registered Nurse) license required.
  • Must hold at least one of the following: CCS, CPC, CPMA, RHIA, or RHIT.
  • Must obtain Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification within 9 months of hire.
  • Experience with multiple EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Meditech, Cerner).
  • Strong organizational, speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel for onsite client or corporate needs as required.
  • Inquisitive mindset with openness to AI and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and develop onboarding for new Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDSs).
  • Formulate customized education for diverse audiences including providers, nurses, and coding staff.
  • Perform medical record reviews to ensure accuracy in capturing severity of illness and risk of mortality.
  • Audit CDS performance to ensure system objectives are met and develop individual educational plans.
  • Draft compliant queries endorsed by AHIMA and ACDIS.
  • Maintain enterprise goals, regulatory compliance, and system policies.
  • Coordinate SMART department-related education and requirements.
