Requirements
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school required.
- 10 years of legal experience.
- In-depth experience with contract negotiations and commercial law.
- Legal leadership experience (supervising attorneys, para-legals, and contracts professionals).
- Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring a high-performing legal team.
- Executive presence and ability to communicate credibly with the Board and C-Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Strong legal writing, project management, and record keeping skills.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office and a contract management platform.
- Ability to work well with a variety of team members and thrive independently.
Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic counsel to Leadership and C-Suite on legal and regulatory developments.
- Partner with the executive team to identify, prioritize, and manage enterprise legal risk.
- Evaluate contracts prior to execution to identify legal and commercial risk, negotiate favorable terms, and confirm alignment with company policies.
- Anticipate legal and commercial risks in new business lines and design contract structures.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Legal, Contracts, and Compliance team.
- Shape organizational contract requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Determine and execute litigation and dispute resolution strategy, directing outside counsel.
- Select, direct, and manage outside counsel to deliver results efficiently and on budget.
