Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related engineering/technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in complex nuclear or industrial programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical oversight for nuclear facility planning, construction, commissioning, or operations.
  • Experience managing complex technical programs involving multiple stakeholders and government organizations.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear safety principles, reactor operations, quality assurance, and risk management.
  • Experience reviewing engineering analyses, safety basis documentation, and regulatory deliverables.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel to DOE facilities and contractor/vendor locations as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Building Access Only (BAO) credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate technical oversight activities supporting DOE nuclear reactor and fuel cycle programs.
  • Support DOE in the review and oversight of developer activities related to planning, construction, commissioning, startup, operations, shutdown, and decommissioning.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews across areas such as nuclear safety, engineering, quality assurance, environmental compliance, and security.
  • Review technical documents, reports, safety management program deliverables, and engineering deliverables.
  • Provide comments, recommendations, and independent analysis to support DOE decision-making.
  • Participate in technical meetings, conference calls, site visits, facility walkdowns, inspections, and assessments.
  • Document oversight activities, findings, recommendations, and project status.
  • Support start/restart readiness reviews and operational readiness activities.
  • Prepare monthly status reports, technical summaries, and briefings.
  • Ensure work products are accurate, technically sound, and aligned with DOE expectations.
