Requirements
- High School diploma required; some college helpful.
- 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Excellent telephone etiquette.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines with high accuracy.
- Proficiency with computer systems, keyboarding, and 10-key calculator.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to perform physical movements such as gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting.
- Ability to engage in prolonged standing and walking during shifts.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate all components of the patient's entrance into any Mercy facility.
- Manage patient scheduling, registration, and benefit verification.
- Handle pre-certification and financial clearance, including pre-visit collections.
- Obtain and populate accurate patient data into electronic patient records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
