Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of underwriting experience within Management Liability insurance, preferably with a strong focus on renewal business and wholesale distribution channels.
  • Deep knowledge of specialty liability insurance products, policy structures, coverage forms, rating methodologies, and underwriting practices.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and strengthen broker relationships that contribute to portfolio growth and retention.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex risks and balance profitability with market competitiveness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing modern underwriting platforms, digital tools, and technology-enabled workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to underwriting excellence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving, ownership, and continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or similar certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage renewal business across management liability product lines while ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines, profitability targets, and risk appetite.
  • Analyze risk exposures, claims history, financial information, and operational factors to determine appropriate pricing, coverage terms, and underwriting decisions.
  • Deliver timely, competitive, and well-structured quotes that support retention objectives and distribution strategies.
  • Build, maintain, and expand relationships with wholesale brokers, serving as a trusted advisor and underwriting resource.
  • Manage the full renewal lifecycle, driving account retention and profitable portfolio growth through proactive broker engagement.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, engineering, design, and analytics teams to improve underwriting processes, coverage offerings, and pricing methodologies.
  • Gather market intelligence and broker feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and underwriting improvements.
  • Represent the organization at broker meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, and well-documented underwriting records and decision-making processes.
  • Support ongoing innovation initiatives by contributing underwriting expertise to technology-driven risk assessment and portfolio management solutions.
