  • Basic knowledge of medical billing terminology and concepts preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing processes, payer systems, and collection procedures is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient billing inquiries and resolve account-related issues in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • Post payments, adjustments, and other financial transactions accurately within billing systems.
  • Work directly with patients to establish payment arrangements and explain available financial assistance or charity programs.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies involving patients and third-party payers.
  • Communicate account issues, workflow challenges, or escalations to management as needed.
  • Rebill accounts and correct billing records to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
  • Screen and identify eligibility for financial assistance programs, including Medicare-related charity guidelines.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with patients at all times while providing courteous support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure account balances are resolved efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable billing procedures, collection policies, and regulatory standards.
