Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, data science, information technology, or equivalent.
- 8+ years of work experience as a Software Engineer with a data focus or as a Data Engineer.
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale, production-grade end-to-end data pipelines and Data Modeling.
- 5+ years of hands-on Spark / PySpark experience in a production environment, including job optimization.
- Strong programming capabilities in Python and SQL.
- Experience with cloud data warehouse/lakehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Apache Iceberg).
- Familiarity with ETL tools such as Fivetran or DBT.
- Experience with Python-based API frameworks for data pipeline ingestion.
- RDBMS experience (MySQL, AWS RDS/Aurora, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server).
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines and backend ingestion workflows for Samsara's Data Platform.
- Manage critical data pipelines and facilitate integration/transformation across ERP, CRM, and product data sources.
- Design and operate large-scale Spark and PySpark workflows for batch and streaming data processing on Databricks.
- Build and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to expose data assets to AI models and internal tools.
- Define engineering standards, patterns, and best practices for data architecture, observability, and data quality.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
