Requirements
- Several years of hands-on technical experience in roles such as engineering, DBA, SRE, solutions architecture, or developer advocacy.
- Experience working with databases in production or supporting developers who do.
- Strong technical writing capability for deep-dive content.
- A track record of public speaking or a clear appetite to develop a speaking presence.
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Rust to build demos and sample applications.
- Solid understanding of how open source communities operate.
- Ability and willingness to travel roughly 10–50% of the time based on event requirements.
Responsibilities
- Create technical content such as tutorials, deep-dive blog posts, reference guides, video walkthroughs, and demos.
- Speak at conferences, webinars, meetups, podcasts, and livestreams.
- Engage with upstream communities for projects like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Valkey, and Kubernetes.
- Represent Percona in forums, Discord, GitHub, and social platforms while mentoring community contributors.
- Advocate for and provide technical expertise on Percona's open source portfolio.
- Communicate community feedback, pain points, and feature requests to internal Product and Engineering teams.
- Partner with Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Support teams to maintain technical accuracy.
