Requirements
- 8+ years experience building production software systems.
- 3+ years in an engineering leadership role with direct reports.
- Experience building robust distributed cloud data systems.
- Deep understanding of multiple database and data storage technologies.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and delivering large projects iteratively.
- Skilled at dealing with ambiguity and prioritizing effectively.
- Formal education or job exposure to natural sciences.
- Ability to explain technical problems to domain experts.
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a team of high-performing software engineers, hiring and growing diverse individuals.
- Collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, and other software engineers to plan, prioritize, and deliver impactful projects.
- Partner with the Head of Data Systems Engineering and interdisciplinary leaders to develop technical and organizational strategy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers, coaching the team to improve internal partnerships.
- Contribute to projects as an individual contributor for approximately 1/3rd of your time.
