Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or 3 years of equivalent experience in lieu of education).
- 1+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, patient access, insurance verification, or utilization review support.
- Working knowledge of commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payer requirements.
- Working knowledge of hospital inpatient and observation workflows.
- Professional experience documenting payer interactions and account activities clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Outlook.
Responsibilities
- Review daily inpatient and observation admission reports to identify accounts requiring payer notification.
- Submit “Notification of Admission” requests to commercial and government payers per requirements.
- Verify coverage, eligibility, and account information prior to submission.
- Document confirmation numbers, reference numbers, and payer responses in client systems.
- Monitor pending notifications, follow up on requests, and resolve issues within timelines.
- Escalate accounts at risk for missed deadlines or authorization-related denials.
- Collaborate with Utilization Review and Case Management to obtain necessary clinical documentation.
