Requirements
- RHIT or RHIA or CCS Certification.
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (or CDIP).
- Bachelor Degree in healthcare related field or current enrollment in program.
- Five years of coding experience.
- Prior experience working with clinical documentation teams.
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Planning and time management skills.
- Experience in education/training.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with clinical documentation team to identify documentation improvement opportunities in inpatient accounts.
- Assesses DRG, PDx, secondary Dx, PCS, and POA components impacting quality metrics.
- Ensures coding practices remain compliant with regulations.
- Identifies educational opportunities and serves as an expert educator for medical staff and coders.
- Develops strategic plans to impact clinical dashboards and secures interdepartmental support.
- Analyzes data to construct action plans and develops teaching tools.
- Partners with leadership and medical directors to execute advanced projects like Mortality Review and HAC/PSI Review.
- Collaborates with IT, Analytics, and Innovation to design workflow solutions.
