Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience developing and maintaining applications in C++
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and modifying complex legacy systems
- Experience supporting middle-tier application architectures and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of software design and structured programming
- Experience working within UNIX/Linux environments
- Experience using Git and GitHub
- Debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, analyze, maintain, and enhance middle-tier application components supporting VA benefits and awards processing.
- Perform detailed code reviews and modifications across large, complex, monolithic code bases.
- Analyze and support legacy VETSNET applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve software defects through root cause analysis.
- Support modernization initiatives, including migration efforts toward Java-based and database-driven architectures.
- Participate in the adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) methodologies and AI-assisted code tools.
- Contribute actively to Agile development activities.
- Mentor team members and support adoption of modern development practices.
