Requirements
- Deep experience building and evolving large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in storage systems, data infrastructure, or foundational backend platforms.
- Strong architectural instincts focusing on simplicity, consistency, and clear boundaries.
- Track record of owning and delivering complex, cross-team technical initiatives.
- Ability to work across multiple layers of the stack from storage engines to developer experience.
- Hands-on mindset with ability to build, debug, review, and ship code.
- Ability to move into unfamiliar technical territory quickly.
Responsibilities
- Shape technical direction for the data platforms that underpin HubSpot’s products.
- Drive architectural decisions across storage, access patterns, scaling models, tenancy, performance, and developer ergonomics.
- Write production code regularly and lead complex initiatives from idea to rollout.
- Build internal frameworks, APIs, and platform capabilities.
- Define reusable abstractions for data storage, ingestion, processing, and access.
- Partner with engineering and product leaders to align infrastructure direction.
- Work horizontally across teams to guide technical tradeoffs and unblock decisions.
- Act as a technical mentor through design reviews and decision-making.
