Requirements

  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in KYC, AML, onboarding, or financial crime operations within financial services, fintech, or regulated industries.
  • Strong expertise in KYC onboarding processes, customer due diligence, business verification, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing large operational teams and building high-performance, scalable delivery organisations.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks such as UK AML regulations, EU AML directives, and related compliance standards.
  • Strong knowledge of onboarding risk typologies including fraud, synthetic identities, PEPs, sanctions, and shell structures.
  • Experience working closely with Product and Technology teams to implement automation, decision engines, and operational tooling.
  • Data-driven mindset with strong ability to use KPIs, MI, and analytics to improve operational outcomes and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills with the ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale the First Line KYC onboarding function, overseeing identity verification, business verification, risk profiling, and screening activities.
  • Design, implement, and continuously optimise scalable onboarding workflows aligned with regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite.
  • Own onboarding SLAs, quality controls, KPIs, and operational performance metrics to ensure efficient and compliant outcomes at scale.
  • Partner with Compliance teams to integrate evolving regulatory requirements into operational processes and governance frameworks.
  • Drive automation initiatives, tooling enhancements, and data-driven improvements to increase throughput and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define onboarding requirements and support the development of new features and systems.
  • Manage workforce planning, forecasting, and cost control while ensuring strong team performance and delivery consistency.
  • Represent the onboarding KYC function in governance forums, audits, and regulatory or stakeholder engagements.
