Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in health and safety, including program development or enterprise-level system implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience designing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and enterprise-wide programs from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards and safety management system frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze safety and operational data using tools such as Excel and HRIS systems to identify trends and insights.
  • Strong ability to translate complex regulatory and technical information into clear, practical guidance.
  • Experience working in multi-site, multi-industry, or unionized environments is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, advisory, and stakeholder management skills with strong professional judgment and integrity.
  • CRSP or CHSC designation is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise-wide health and safety programs that standardize risk identification, incident management, and emergency preparedness across all operations.
  • Develop and maintain policies, standards, and tools aligned with ISO 45001 and applicable Canadian occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Create scalable safety frameworks that can be applied across multiple sites, industries, and operational contexts while remaining practical and effective.
  • Interpret multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable safety procedures and controls.
  • Advise leaders and operational teams on compliance obligations while promoting a unified national approach to workplace safety.
  • Lead hazard identification and risk assessments, applying the hierarchy of controls to strengthen preventive safety measures.
  • Support training, awareness programs, and engagement initiatives to build organizational capability and shared accountability for safety.
  • Monitor safety performance through data analysis, reporting, and trend identification to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
