Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of underwriting or related insurance experience
  • Strong ability to evaluate risk independently
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to quickly learn industry-specific software
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Property & Casualty Brokers License (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Independently attend broker visits and conduct broker meetings.
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines, rules, and standards to accept, reject, or mitigate risk.
  • Determine appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages for complex applications.
  • Approve or decline applications within assigned authority limits.
  • Prepare referral submissions for risks exceeding individual authority.
  • Document underwriting files, including risk analysis and pricing justification.
  • Verify supplementary data for submissions using multiple databases and specialized software.
