Requirements

  • Ph.D. in atmospheric science, chemistry, engineering, or related field (or Master's with experience).
  • Minimum 3+ years (Senior I) or 5+ years (Senior II) post-doctoral or equivalent experience.
  • Recognized record in air quality science and leading funded research as PI or Co-PI.
  • Expertise in air quality modeling tools such as CMAQ, CAMx, WRF-Chem, GEOS-Chem, InMAP, or AERMOD.
  • Experience with emissions inventory tools like SMOKE and large datasets.
  • Experience with AWS cloud computing (EC2, S3, ParallelCluster).
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub and version control.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing performance.
  • Proven experience at the science-policy interface.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advance a strategic research portfolio in air quality.
  • Lead proposal development and coordinate competitive grant/contract proposals.
  • Serve as PI, maintaining accountability for scientific scope, budgets, and reporting.
  • Oversee design and maintenance of scalable scientific tools and cloud-based AWS pipelines.
  • Produce peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and lead communication with policymakers.
  • Directly supervise staff, practice mentorship, and support hiring.
  • Represent organization externally through publications, media, and advisory processes.
  • Serve as Branch Lead for the EM&E branch, handling staff performance and capacity planning.
