Requirements
- 10+ years in software development.
- 5+ years in engineering management in cloud-native infrastructure or managed services.
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems orchestration (Kubernetes operators, controller patterns, declarative API servers).
- Experience with multi-tenant resource isolation.
- Experience scaling control planes for managed cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
- Proven track record of hiring and managing performance.
- Mindset geared toward operational excellence and resilient technical foundations.
- Exceptional ability to influence peers and upper management.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Own the overall roadmap and execution for the Flink Control Plane.
- Define strategy for job orchestration and serverless resource management.
- Lead migration of the control plane onto Confluent's platform foundations.
- Drive major component refactors to improve reliability, security, and scale.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and product management on product definition and design.
- Drive evolution to support 10x growth in compute pools and tenants.
- Manage and coach a team, providing mentorship to develop leadership skills.
- Drive cross-team efforts to solve distributed system challenges.
- Lead maintenance of code quality, test coverage, and on-call rotation.
