Requirements

  • Degree in Anthropology or related field.
  • Knowledge of Texan cultural resources.
  • Archaeological monitoring experience on construction sites.
  • Archaeological survey experience.
  • Reliable transportation with clean driving record.
  • Ability to use stop work authority.
  • Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s professional qualifications standards.
  • RPA status or eligible to become an RPA.
  • Strong experience on federal government projects at the Texas-Mexico border.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and target locations of sensitive cultural resources and mark buffer zones.
  • Adhere to project health and safety plans.
  • Prepare daily and weekly cultural resource monitoring summaries, photo-documentation, and maps.
  • Conduct archaeological monitoring and surveys in accordance with research design.
  • Recognize archaeological signatures and evaluate resources.
  • Maintain organized field notes, maps, drawings, and logs.
  • Perform daily quality control of field data.
  • Use GPS, iPad, and other navigational equipment for fieldwork documentation.
  • Collaborate with environmental monitors and construction crews.
