Requirements
- 4-6 years of Data Engineering experience.
- Advanced Snowflake skills: incremental models, time travel, merge statements, clustering, zero-copy cloning.
- Advanced dbt skills: macros, packages, generic tests, snapshots, sources, exposures, CI/CD integration.
- Expert SQL skills: complex joins, window functions, handling late-arriving data, query performance optimization.
- Intermediate Python skills: Snowpark for custom transformations.
- Proficient in Git: branching strategy, pull requests, conflict resolution.
- Intermediate understanding of retail data structures: order headers/lines, inventory, customer master, fiscal calendars.
- Hands-on experience with AI/Automation tools: GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Snowflake Cortex AI_COMPLETE, Elementary, data observability platforms.
Responsibilities
- Build Silver layer dbt models including staging, intermediate, and conformed fact/dimension tables.
- Define and implement incremental load strategies, upsert logic, and snapshot tables.
- Write and maintain dbt schema tests, including referential integrity and custom generic tests.
- Collaborate with the analytics engineer on the Silver-to-Gold interface.
- Work with IT to confirm entity availability and Bronze table quality before build.
- Investigate and resolve pipeline incidents escalated by the AI triage layer.
- Manage upstream schema changes affecting Bronze-to-Silver mappings.
- Monitor and optimize Snowflake query performance across live Gold datasets.
- Own and maintain the AI triage pipeline to ensure alert classification accuracy.
