Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in surety underwriting or related insurance industry roles
- Proven track record of developing and growing business through broker relationships
- Strong expertise in underwriting surety risks and managing complex portfolios
- Experience developing and executing business plans, marketing strategies, and budget management
- Deep understanding of surety distribution channels and regional broker networks
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to expand surety operations across the U.S.
- Underwrite and manage a profitable surety portfolio through active engagement with brokers.
- Build and expand strong broker relationships to drive new business.
- Evaluate and document underwriting decisions in alignment with guidelines.
- Conduct detailed account and portfolio underwriting while ensuring compliance with risk appetite.
- Collaborate with regional and global underwriting teams to align risk strategies.
- Participate in industry associations and broker events.
- Contribute to the leadership and development of a regional underwriting team.
- Manage marketing plans, business strategies, and budgets.
