Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in surety underwriting or related insurance industry roles
  • Proven track record of developing and growing business through broker relationships
  • Strong expertise in underwriting surety risks and managing complex portfolios
  • Experience developing and executing business plans, marketing strategies, and budget management
  • Deep understanding of surety distribution channels and regional broker networks
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to expand surety operations across the U.S.
  • Underwrite and manage a profitable surety portfolio through active engagement with brokers.
  • Build and expand strong broker relationships to drive new business.
  • Evaluate and document underwriting decisions in alignment with guidelines.
  • Conduct detailed account and portfolio underwriting while ensuring compliance with risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with regional and global underwriting teams to align risk strategies.
  • Participate in industry associations and broker events.
  • Contribute to the leadership and development of a regional underwriting team.
  • Manage marketing plans, business strategies, and budgets.
