Requirements
- 5+ years of deep hands-on PostgreSQL experience in business-critical production environments.
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL internals: MVCC, WAL, transactions, locks, indexes, query planning, replication, autovacuum, and PITR.
- Proven experience with highly available databases and handling failover, rollback, and quorum.
- Strong Linux and infrastructure fundamentals: systemd, networking, storage, filesystems, CPU/memory/disk bottlenecks, TLS, DNS, and firewalls.
- Automation skills with Ansible; Terraform, OpenTofu, and GitLab CI/CD are strong advantages.
- Ability to support multiple database engines and quickly learn ClickHouse operations.
- Practical use of AI engineering assistants (Claude, Codex) with manual verification of outputs.
- Clear written English communication skills for asynchronous work in Jira, Slack, and GitLab.
Responsibilities
- Own production PostgreSQL reliability including HA design, Patroni, PgBouncer, replication, failover, upgrades, vacuum control, and PITR.
- Improve disaster recovery and operational evidence through tested restores, documented recovery paths, and RTO/RPO targets.
- Support the wider database estate including ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Automate DBA workflows using Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and scripts.
- Build DBaaS-style self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
- Improve observability and incident response using Grafana, metrics, logs, SLOs, and alert rules.
- Troubleshoot database incidents and maintain executable runbooks.
