Requirements
- 8+ years in software engineering, especially backend systems
- Experience designing complex, distributed systems balancing consistency and availability
- Ability to design for failure scenarios and graceful degradation
- Cloud-native experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Proficiency with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes/ECS, and infrastructure-as-code
- Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana
- Strong product thinking and business outcome focus
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Owners and Engineering to challenge requirements and solve real customer problems
- Design with customer empathy, balancing speed, cost, and quality
- Build lean, cost-efficient systems
- Champion simplicity in technical design
- Design secure, resilient, scalable architectures that handle peak loads and failures
- Bridge technology-business gaps by translating complex concepts into business language
- Empower and mentor teams to make technical decisions
- Stay on the ground through code reviews and pair programming
- Participate in post-mortems and operational reviews
- Continuously learn and evaluate new technologies
