Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading geospatial data acquisition and quality management.
  • Expertise in geospatial sciences including cartography, GIS, and data management.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate data licensing contracts.
  • Experience developing and applying QA/QC procedures for geospatial datasets.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, and geospatial data processing tools.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data standards (e.g., FGDC, ISO) and metadata management.
  • Track record managing large-scale data projects with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and refinement of methodologies for geospatial data collection and maintenance.
  • Manage data intake and prioritize needs based on DHS component requirements.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data acquisition and quality assurance.
  • Oversee budget management for high-priority data procurement.
  • Define and enforce requirements for geospatial data accuracy, format, and licensing.
  • Negotiate licensing agreements and maintain relationships with data providers.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts including data validation and application of standardized checklists.
  • Oversee data registration, cataloging, and publication within government platforms.
  • Inform government stakeholders of any issues impacting cost, schedule, or performance.
