Requirements
- 6-8 years in SaaS, ideally B2B SMB, with real reps in pricing, packaging, and billing.
- Actively use AI to move faster and smarter: exploring, prototyping, automating, and scaling your impact.
- Deeply familiar with usage-based billing, having worked on systems where customer cost is tied to consumption (tokens, API calls, AI credits, transactions).
- Opinionated about AI monetization, understanding how real costs (inference, vendors, compute) change pricing, entitlements, and product behavior.
- Detail-oriented across both strategy and infrastructure, comfortable debating price points and deep in Stripe edge cases.
- A clarity definer, not a clarity seeker, who sees ambiguity as the fun part.
- Naturally cross-functional, able to build trust fast across functions and hold your own with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own the four components of monetization: pricing, packaging, billing, and placement.
- Move free-to-paid conversion by building the experiment roadmap, shipping tests, and honestly assessing results.
- Define and iterate on the AI credit system, including how credits are bought, consumed, displayed, refilled, and tied to plans.
- Push pricing and packaging into its next chapter, considering freemium, plan structure, and packaging AI alongside core features.
- Partner with engineering on the billing system, including Stripe, legacy code, and integrations.
- Run rigorous experiments with crisp hypotheses, sound instrumentation, and unvarnished reads on results.
- Be the connective tissue between EPD, marketing, finance, sales, support, CS, and external vendors.
- Contribute to the North Star: getting Close from 11k paid customers to 20k by end of 2027.
- Monitor ARPC, new MRR, churn, AI credit revenue, and usage revenue.
