Requirements
- Familiarity with Python
- Familiarity with SQL
- Familiarity with Scala
- Comfortable in a language such as Go, Rust, C++, or Java (bonus points for Go)
- Comfortable writing production-quality code and treating data systems like real software
- Interested in AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes, managed through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
- Built and operated large-scale event streams, product telemetry, or high-volume ingestion pipelines in production
- Enjoys thinking about data models, invariants, lineage, and failure modes
- Cares about data quality and observability, and designs systems that make errors visible
- Enjoys figuring out why numbers don’t add up
Responsibilities
- Build the data backbone: Design and evolve pipelines and orchestration systems for data movement, ingestion, transformation, modeling, and reliability.
- Make the numbers make sense: Own core business and product datasets (usage, revenue, growth, performance) ensuring accuracy, reconciliation, and trust.
- Turn raw events into decision-ready insight: Build and refine models for dashboards, planning, forecasting, and experimentation, ensuring clean schemas and durable definitions.
- Raise the bar on data reliability: Implement validation, testing, observability, and monitoring across data systems to prevent silent failures and data drifts.
- Own the platform as it scales: Improve performance, cost efficiency, and architectural design of the data stack (Airbyte, Dagster, dbt, Athena, Flink, Superset).
- Partner across the company: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, GTM, Finance, and Leadership to build systems that provide obvious answers to their questions.
