Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field
- CPA designation
- 7-10+ years of experience in progressive Accounting/Finance roles
- At least 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller or Finance Manager role within a multi-entity, Canada / US environment
- Experience in growth-stage / scaling environments
- Experience with VC or PE backed businesses
- Strong experience with applying GAAP (ASPE)
- Deep experience in revenue recognition in SaaS subscription / usage based business models
- Familiarity with key SaaS KPIs (MRR, ARR, GDR, NDR and LTV)
- Experience with Canadian commodity tax
- Experience with US Sales & Use Tax
- Proficiency in online accounting software (QBO, Xero)
- Experience with transition to ERP (Netsuite, Sage Intacct)
- Strong Excel and Google Suite skills (advanced formulas and pivot tables)
- Demonstrated ability to manage finance staff at growth stage companies
- Experience building and implementing processes, internal controls and accounting software
Responsibilities
- Own Close Process for Parent & Subsidiary
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE for parent, subsidiary and consolidated entities.
- Manage consolidation process, reconciling and eliminating all intercompany transactions across entities.
- Responsible for Management of Annual Audit
- Oversee Accurate Revenue Recognition
- Responsible for Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage AR, AP and Inventory ensuring sufficient liquidity and cash flow to support operational needs.
- Own Tax & Compliance Activities across Parent & Subsidiary
- Oversee corporate tax filings across Canada and the US, including commodity, payroll and income tax ensuring all filings are timely and accurate.
- Build Culture of Partnership to Support Cross Functional Teams
- Support Growth Stage Scaling including Process Development & Improvement
